Top-down / Bottom-up

The top-down/bottom-up planning function is a powerful tool for distributing plan values over the active time span (top-down) or for entering plan values for each time step (bottom-up). Each plan relates to the time span, data stream and field selected in the table.

In your planning you can use the following distribution methods. Each plan relates to the data field and data stream selected in the table:

Plan value for each time step

Plan a value for each time step in the active time span. Specify the arithmetic operation (enter, add, subtract, multiply, divide) and the distribution method for spreading the value over the subsidiary fields.

Spread value over time steps

Spread a value over all time steps in the active time span. Select the arithmetic operation (enter, add, subtract, multiply, divide) and specify the distribution method for spreading the value over the subsidiary fields.

Start with the plan value and finish at the target value

Plan the values for each time step in the active time span, starting with a plan value and finishing at a target value. Select a progression (linear, progressive increase, diminishing balance) from the plan value to the target value and specify the distribution method for spreading the value over the subsidiary fields.

Increase/reduce value with each time step

Plan the values for each time step in the active time span, starting with a plan value. Increase or decrease the plan value in each time step by the given percentage or absolute value and specify the distribution method for spreading the value over the subsidiary fields.

Spread value according to the reference stream and time offset

Spread a value over all time steps in the active time span. The plan value will be spread according to the given reference data stream including any time offset. Select the arithmetic operation (enter, add, subtract, multiply, divide) and specify the distribution method for spreading the value over the subsidiary fields.

Spread value according to the reference field and time offset

Spread a value over all time steps in the active time span. The plan value will be spread according to the given reference field including any time offset. Select the arithmetic operation (enter, add, subtract, multiply, divide) and specify the distribution method for spreading the value over the subsidiary fields.

Spread value according to the existing distribution

Spread a value over all time steps in the active time span and over all subsidiary fields according to the existing distribution.
