The following guide is intended to help you to carry out the installation and configuration of Qlik Sense successfully. Please note the system requirements for the Qlik Sense server installation. You will find these in the Installation Notes for the application server (CP-Server).
The Qlik Sense Setup Guide will take you through all the installation steps:
1. Run the installation The Qlik Sense server installation runs automatically before the CP-Server installation. Click "Install".
2. Accept the licensing terms To confirm that you accept the Qlik Sense server licensing terms, select "I accept the license agreement". Then click "Next".
3. Select the cluster If you already have an existing cluster up and running, you can add more nodes to it by clicking "Join cluster". However, in connection with the CP software, a local Qlik cluster is sufficient for most purposes. Click "Create cluster" to generate a new local cluster.
4. Specify the server name Enter the host name of the server on which Qlik Sense is to be installed. In most cases, the correct host name should already appear here.
5. Database access Enter the information required for the for the installation of the local SQL database. If no SQL database yet exists, we recommend selecting the option to install a local database. The default values should only be changed here if you are experienced in the installation of SQL servers.
In the "Advanced settings", you can define other options. However, these settings do not normally need to be changed.
6. Service user Enter the name and password of the service user which will run the Qlik services. As mentioned above, we recommend running the Qlik installation and then the configuration via the CP-Setup Guide with this service user.
7. Folder share In this step, enter the folder that you have previously configured and shared as the root folder for the Qlik files. As mentioned above, the Qlik service user must have access to this folder.
8. Access log (Logging) You can have the Qlik Sense access logs stored in a separate database or in an existing database. We recommend creating a new logging database.
Then set a read and write access password for the specified service user.
9. Installation directory Specify the installation directory for the Qlik Sense server.
10. Repository database password Enter the password for access to the repository database.
11. Finish the Setup Guide To complete the installation, you can choose other options (e.g. whether to create a desktop shortcut and/or to start the Qlik Sense server when the setup is complete) and whether various other objects should be installed as well. If you choose to install these other objects, you will need to confirm the licensing terms.
Then click "Install" to run the installation.
